How to take a decent shot….

…with a camera, of course!

People visiting this blog would notice that I’m definitely NOT a good shot. None of the snaps I’ve put up here are flattering to the subject 😦

My skills in photography can best be explained by my actions:-

1) Grab the camera

2) Insert  battery

3) Point at target…..Shoot

4)  Blank image!! Lens cover still in place.Groan.

5) Frantically remove lens cover

6) Point at target…..Shoot

7) Blurred snap. Drat. Shoot

8 ) Subject moved. Drat again. Shoot

9) Bad light. Change position. Shoot

10) Gotcha.

11) Download to PC.

12) Upload to blog.

13) Whew!!!

Bro had sent a link to some snaps of his Ooty trip. At that time I didnt appreciate his talent. Going through it today, I realized what amazing pics he had snapped.  Absolutely tops. NG material (NG:National Geographic to the uninformed).

(Note: Brosky, if you are reading this, and are tickled pink to see an entire post dedicated to you, and you feel it worthy of sharing with your friends and you go home and feel happy and content on a job well done, then let me remind you that my B’day just passed by and the b’day cheque has yet not arrived in the post!! I’m patient, I am.)

Anyway, here’s a sampler of his skills .Enjoy madi 🙂 :-

Secret for a long marriage

At St. Mary’s Catholic Church they have a weekly husbands marriage seminar. At the session last week the priest asked Giuseppe, who was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.

Giuseppe replied to the assembled husbands, ‘Wella, I’ve a-tried to treat-a her nicea, spenda da money on her, but besta of alla is, I tooka her to Roma for the 25th anniversary!’

The priest responded, ‘Giuseppe, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here!
Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary?’

Giuseppe proudly replied, ‘I’m agonna go get her back.’

Open letter to Amit Varma

Dear AV,

I have been an ardent fan of your blog , spending copius amount of work hours reading up each and every post that you have written till date (even digging into your archives, just in case I missed out on anything).

I love your sense of  humour (and many would agree). But what I love the most is the sharp wit you display. Makes me worship you at the alter of blogdom 🙂 .

And oh, I read My Friend Sancho . Its a fun book, totally directed towards today’s youth. But you know what I missed the most? C’mon, am sure you heard it a zillion times by now…..yup, you got it. Am referring to Cows!!

Why, Oh Why didnt your book mention even a single cow? C’mon, you could have inserted one anywhere in the story!!!  Even after I completed MFS, I had this hollow feeling…of missing out on something vital!!  The Cows!! How could you deprive me of that one pleasure 😦 . How could you??!!!

Anyway, you are gonna be in town tomorrow and how I wish I could take an off to come and meet you in person! Alas, that is not to be, so all I can do is sit in office and fret over all that I could have asked you (and no, I wont say that Abir Ganguly is your alter ego, even though there were far too many instances of resemblance 🙂 )

Well, AV, am glad that you are visiting, seriously. And when you do write your next book, please include that which you forgot the first time around.

Much love and goodwill,

N.
