Pope Caught for Speeding

Got this in the mail today.

Funny, huh??

After getting all of Pope Benedict’s luggage loaded into the limo, (and he doesn’t travel light), the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.

‘Excuse me, Your Holiness,’ says the driver, ‘Would you please take your seat so we can leave?’

‘Well, to tell you the truth,’ says the Pope, ‘they never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I’d really like to drive today.’

‘I’m sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I’d lose my job!
What if something should happen?’ protests the driver, wishing he’d never gone to work that morning..

‘Who’s going to tell?’ says the Pope with a smile.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kms.. (Remember, the Pope is German..)

‘Please slow down, Your Holiness!’ pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

‘Oh, dear God, I’m going to lose my license — and my job!’ moans the driver. The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

‘I need to talk to the Chief,’ he says to the dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he’s stopped a limo going 205 kph..

‘So bust him,’ says the Chief.

‘I don’t think we want to do that, he’s really important,’ said the cop. The Chief exclaimed,’ All the more reason!’

‘No, I mean really important,’ said the cop with a bit of persistence. The Chief then asked, ‘Who do you have there, the mayor?’

Cop: ‘Bigger.’

Chief: ‘ A senator?’

Cop: ‘Bigger.’

Chief: ‘The Prime Minister?’

Cop: ‘Bigger.’

‘Well,’ said the Chief, ‘who is it?’

Cop: ‘I think it’s God!’

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, ‘What makes you think it’s God?’

Cop: ‘His chauffeur is the Pope!’

I’ve added another one to my collection. Bought “Sister of My Heart” by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni !!

(This one’s for you Shail….I wouldn’t have bought it if you hadn’t convinced me to 🙂 )

I’m totally smitten by this author’s style of narration. Absolutely, totally, hook, line and sinker!!

It started when I picked her book “Vine of Desire” on a lark. Was looking for something new to read and came across this one in Big Bazaar. It was for half the price, so I thought, why not?!  Am glad that I did, coz once I started reading it, it was so difficult to put down! Totally engrossing, the words spinning their own magic….and later when I tried to recollect, I realized, there was very little action happening. The only actions narrated , were those of the mind, the thoughts that conflict each other, the thoughts that make people do what they do, the thoughts that bring the ultimate downfall, or the ones that act as the savior. Spellbinding!!

And then recently, I bought the Palace of Illusions.

And my respect for Ms.Divakaruni increased fourfold ( Please read the book if you haven’t already!!).

Anyhow, Shail wrote in one of her comments that I must read Sister of My Heart and so, while browsing through Big Bazaar yesterday (again!) I came across this one, again, at half-price.

“Pouncing” is the only word that can describe how I  reached for it 😀

Believe me, I didn’t even bother to check if all the pages were in place, whether the last page was there or not, I just grabbed it before anyone else could come anywhere close to it and directly got it billed. Haven’t started reading it yet, because I’m on the Agatha Christie right now….but am so glad I have something to read when the current one gets over.

The BF, can’t understand my obsession with books.  He himself cannot be made to go through even 2 pages of any book. Which gives me serious doubts as to how he managed to study all these years!! But then, he goes through a 100 page FSD  easily!! I guess work comes to him more easily than leisure. Weird!!

Anyway, he has relented enough to agree that we need to buy a book shelf as soon as possible (maybe to prevent the room from flooding with books 😀 ).

And oh, while at Big Bazaar I also bought an adorable pair of denim shorts for SS. They were super cute and I just couldn’t drag myself away from it (the 300/- tag  notwithstanding!!).

Kids clothings, I say!!!

Wanted to get a pair for RS too, but with her, I need to be careful about the size. For some unknown reason, all the clothes that I’ve bought for her till date have fallen short 😦 . Which reminds me, I had stitched a one-piece frock for her before she was born. It was hand stitched and by that I mean, I put thread and needle together to stitch it together. It had a satin ribbon at the waist and red thread used as hemming around the neck and sleeves. And yeah, I’d given the dress a slit at the thigh 😉

Totally Sexy!!!

Dunno whom I gave that outfit to!! I have a couple of good cloth pieces which I plan to stitch for her…..but for that, I need

1) time

2) skill

3) patience

4) above three at the SAME time!!

Anyhow, I better get back to work now…

This just turned into a random post where as I’d meant it specifically for the book 😦

That reminds me…I still have to do those posts on the books I’ve recently read.

(* walking off in deep thought…*)
